Overview

Stylaster is a hydrozoan lace coral related to Distichopora, with even finer lacy branches. Non-photosynthetic, it does not grow by light and requires frequent fine planktonic feeding. It prefers shade and moderate-to-strong flow to keep algae off. Long-term care is difficult, an advanced species needing dedicated NPS equipment. Pink, red and purple specimens are traded.
