Overview
Dendrophyllia is a non-photosynthetic coral related to Tubastraea (sun coral); lacking zooxanthellae, it feeds rather than photosynthesizes. It grows branching, opening large orange-yellow polyps. It needs no light and is best placed in shade or under overhangs. It requires regular target feeding of zooplankton or minced seafood to all polyps and fouls water easily, so it suits intermediate-to-advanced keepers.
