Overview

'Walt Disney' is an aquacultured lineage traded as Acropora tenuis, named for its multicolor look of pink, orange and yellow tips layered over a blue body. Among tenuis lines it shows the most colors and has become an established collector lineage traded worldwide by the frag. Keep it under strong light and strong flow with stable KH, Ca and Mg; rising nutrients tend to wash out the blue and brown it. Frags from later aquacultured generations tolerate change better, and whether a frag is encrusted strongly affects price. As a trade name, we treat it here as a lineage.

How to identify

The key difference from Homewrecker is the body color: Walt Disney keeps a mainly blue body with warm tips, whereas Homewrecker shifts to multiple colors across the body itself with less blue. Coloration swings widely with light and water, so do not identify a lineage from color alone.

Grade tiers

Grade names used in the trade for this genus. Criteria vary by seller.

Standard
Unbranded aquacultured or wild specimens with common green, brown or purple coloration.
Select
Branded aquacultured lines with established coloration, distinguished by polyp color and tip coloration.

Acropora is rated by brand (such as WWC, TSA and JF), aquaculture generation and how well the frag has established.

Typical price range

Roughly 20,000 to 80,000 yen for a 1-2 cm frag as a guide; it varies widely with generation, encrustation and seller.

Varies widely by season, specimen and seller. Treat as a rough guide.
