Overview
'Blue Tenuis' is a color label applied to solid blue Acropora tenuis; wild imports from Indonesia and Australia and pieces aquacultured in various places all circulate under the same name. Because it is not a single lineage propagated from one mother colony, the depth of blue and polyp color differ from piece to piece. Keep it under strong light and strong flow with stable KH, Ca and Mg; insufficient light washes the blue out to brown. Wild imports take longer to adapt than aquacultured frags. As a color-morph label, we treat it here as a lineage.
How to identify
Oregon Tort is a tortuosa with thick twisted branches, whereas Blue Tenuis has the tenuis skeleton of slimmer branches lined with radial polyps. Jolt differs in its yellow tips over a blue-green body. Pieces sharing the name have different provenance, so read it as a color description rather than a lineage name.
