Overview

'PC Rainbow' is an aquacultured lineage traded as an echinata-type Acropora, showing a rainbow of blue, green, yellow and pink on thin, delicate branches. It is known as one of the top-tier Acropora trade lineages and commands high prices by the frag. Keep it under strong light and strong flow with stable KH, Ca and Mg; echinata types grow slowly and fade easily, so it suits advanced keepers. The price gap between encrusted and unattached frags is especially large. As a trade name, we treat it here as a lineage.

How to identify

Homewrecker is a tenuis type with radial polyps, whereas PC Rainbow has the thin, irregular branches of an echinata type with small polyps and color carried by the body. Rainbow Millepora differs in its short branches densely lined with lip-like polyps.
