Overview

'Red Planet' is an Acropora widely traded as an ORA aquacultured lineage, marked by green polyps blooming over a red plating to tabling skeleton. It is hardy and fast-growing, and because it has been through many aquacultured generations it adapts easily, spreading worldwide as a beginner-to-intermediate staple. Keep it under strong light and strong flow with stable KH, Ca and Mg; stronger light tightens the red, while weaker light lets the green dominate and shifts the base toward pinkish brown. As a trade name, we treat it here as a lineage.

How to identify

Red Dragon grows as a thicket of thin branches without green polyps, whereas Red Planet spreads as a plate with prominent green polyps. Forest Fire Digitata also shows green polyps on a red body, but it is a Montipora with finger-like projections.
