Overview
Polyphyllia is a free-living coral whose entire surface bears short tentacles, giving the fuzzy texture implied by its species name talpina ('mole'). It resembles Herpolitha but lacks a central mouth groove, with tentacles spread across the whole body. It prefers moderate light and gentle-to-moderate flow and is kept on sand. Hardy and responsive to feeding, it is an easy species.
