Overview
'Rainbow Hammer' is a color-form label applied collectively to multicolored hammer corals whose tentacles shift color between base, middle and tip; it does not denote a single propagated lineage. Typical pieces pair a green base with purple, pink or gold tips, and they sit in the upper price range for hammers. Color combinations and counts vary from piece to piece under the same name, and the lineage cannot be confirmed from appearance alone. Care follows Euphyllia in general: moderate light, gentle flow, and spacing for its sweeper tentacles. Brown jelly disease precautions are the same as for other hammers. We treat it here as a color-form lineage.
How to identify
Unlike single-color forms such as Toxic Green or Orange, Rainbow is defined by multiple colors on a single tentacle. Two-tone pieces with only differently colored tips are often called Rainbow as well, so the boundary depends on the seller's naming.
