Overview
'Orange Hammer' is a color-form label applied collectively to hammer corals with orange-toned tentacles; it does not denote a single propagated lineage. Among hammers, which are overwhelmingly green, orange is uncommon and prized for that rarity. The orange varies considerably with the individual and the lighting, and can look dull under white light. Care follows Euphyllia in general: moderate light, gentle flow, and spacing for its sweeper tentacles. Brown jelly disease precautions are the same as for other hammers. We treat it here as a color-form lineage.
How to identify
The line with Gold Hammer is easily blurred: gold-to-yellow tones are usually called Gold, while reddish orange is called Orange Hammer. It is clearly separated by hue from Toxic Green Hammer.
Typical price range
As a rough guide, roughly 5,000 to 20,000 yen per head. Prices vary widely with the depth of the orange and the seller.
