Overview

'Ultra Yuma' is not a propagated lineage but a sales-grade label. It is generally applied to specimens with two or three or more vivid colors on the beaded tentacles and mouth, and sold a step above standard yumas. Criteria vary by seller, and some shops use it interchangeably with Rainbow Yuma. The common four-tier scale (standard / select / ultra / master) is described on the genus page. Yuma is more sensitive to change than Florida Ricordea, so keep it under low-to-moderate light and gentle flow with stable water quality and salinity. We register it here as a color-label lineage.

How to identify

Rainbow Yuma focuses on color count, while Ultra is an overall judgment that also weighs vividness and contrast. From Ricordea florida, yuma is told by its finer, more numerous tentacle beads and by often having more than one mouth.

Grade tiers

Grade names used in the trade for this genus. Criteria vary by seller.

Standard
Single- or two-color specimens based on green or brown with moderate coloration.
Ultra
Highly colored specimens in orange, pink or rainbow, traded as "Ultra Yuma".

Grades are assigned at the seller's discretion based on color intensity and count. Yuma coloration fades easily with tank conditions, so check whether photos were taken right after import.

Typical price range
