Overview
'Forest Fire' is an aquacultured lineage traded as Montipora digitata, named for the forest-fire look of green polyps over red-to-orange finger-like branches. Digitata-type Montipora are hardy and fast-growing, and frags from later aquacultured generations adapt easily, making it an SPS beginner staple. Keep it under moderate-to-strong light and flow with stable KH, Ca and Mg; stronger light tightens the red. As a trade name, we treat it here as a lineage.
How to identify
German Blue Digitata has a blue-to-purple body and Superman is plating with red polyps on blue, whereas Forest Fire has green polyps on red finger-like branches. Red Planet also pairs green polyps with a red body, but it is an Acropora with radial polyps.
