Overview
'Master Scoly' is not a propagated lineage but a sales-grade label. It is generally applied to specimens with four or more colors and clear concentric or splatter patterning, and sits at the top of the Scolymia grading scale in the trade. Criteria vary by seller, and the same specimen may be sold as ultra by one shop and master by another. The common four-tier scale (standard / select / ultra / master) is described on the genus page. Husbandry follows other Scolymia: low-to-moderate light, gentle flow, placement on the sand bed, and night feeding to hold color and tissue mass.
How to identify
The difference from ultra is color count: four or more distinct colors with clear patterning is usually called master. Named patterns such as Bleeding Apple or Warpaint describe the color layout and are a separate axis from grade. Specimens with one or two colors fall under standard to select.
