Overview
'JF Mummy Eye' is an aquacultured plating chalice (LPS) lineage traded with the JF prefix, named for brightly ringed mouths ('eyes') dotted over a red-to-purple body that resemble a bandaged mummy's eyes. It is one of the more collectible chalices and is traded by the frag. Like chalices generally, keep it under low-to-moderate light and gentle-to-moderate flow; intense light bleaches it. Its long nocturnal sweepers need clearance, and growth is slowish. As a trade name, we treat it here as a lineage.
How to identify
Hollywood Stunner scatters green or yellow mouths over a red-to-pink body, whereas Mummy Eye shows brightly ringed mouths dotted over red to purple, with the rings more prominent than the mouths themselves. Miami Hurricane has blue-green mouths on red-orange; whether the mouth rings read as 'eyes' is the clue.
Typical price range
Roughly 10,000 to 50,000 yen for a 1-2 cm frag as a guide; it varies widely with the number of mouths, encrustation and seller.
