Overview

'Gold Frogspawn' is a color-form label applied collectively to frogspawn with gold-fluorescing tentacle tips; it does not denote a single propagated lineage. Because most frogspawns are green, gold tips are scarce and sought after. The depth of gold varies with the individual and the lighting, and it can look yellow-brown under white light. Care follows Euphyllia in general: moderate light and gentle flow, with spacing from neighbors since frogspawn also extends sweeper tentacles. It is prone to brown jelly disease, so avoid wounds and sudden water-quality changes. We treat it here as a color-form lineage.

How to identify

It is separated from Gold Torch by parent species: frogspawn tentacles branch and end in small rounded knobs, while torch tentacles are unbranched and long. It is told from ordinary green frogspawn by the tip color.

Typical price range

As a rough guide, roughly 5,000 to 20,000 yen per head. Prices vary widely with the depth of the gold and the seller.
